Grounding: Voices
Toshiharu Tange
What is special about the Tokyo Studio?
This studio makes great games that contain the kernel of an idiosyncratic idea, which is what makes them so unique and compelling. There are a number of staff in the Tokyo studio that have been with us since they graduated and it is great to see how they have evolved as the company has grown. I think we have a 50/50 split of industry veterans and youngsters.
What type of person are you looking for to join your team?
People who have a clear idea of what they want to do, but are also able to display flexibility on the way. This is an industry that can change overnight due to trends so you will need flexibility to adapt and absorb new ideas. Often game development means ripping up what you have done and starting again, so you have to be able to do that and learn from each experience. Someone that understands that game development is a collaborative endeavor. So if you come to our studio with proof that you stayed the course and you managed to get something done despite the difficulties, you'll be a strong candidate.
Positives about working at Grounding
Grounding is a small company and as such there are many opportunities to be handed responsibilities at a young age. The industry veterans that work here will back you up and support you, so this is a great place for young staff to push themselves without fear of making mistakes.

If Grounding was a person, what would they be like?
Someone that is seemingly mature, with a calm exterior that hides and passionate spirit - we seem to have a few of these people.
